Encontrar tu chispa? Find your spark this spring at UW–Madison!

March 24 & 25, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.; Family Night, March 25, 5–8 p.m.

Badger Precollege is excited to welcome Latine students in grades 6–8 to participate in this free, two-day event at UW–Madison. Students will explore campus and learn more about subjects they’re interested in while engaging in activities to support the transition from middle school to high school and from high school to college or career.

This year’s theme is “Encontrar tu chispa.” What are you passionate about? How can you cultivate that passion? Let’s explore your spark! Through culturally relevant workshops and presentations, students will explore concepts of identity, college/career preparation and Latin appreciation. By connecting students to university and community resources, people and opportunities, students can continue to grow and foster their passions and dreams beyond the Summit.

Latino Youth Summit 2025 will be held on Monday & Tuesday, March 24 & 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students participate in workshops, activities, field trips, and more. Lunch is provided in the residence dining halls on both days.

At the conclusion of the Summit, students and their families are invited to join us for Family Night on Tuesday, March 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. Dinner will be provided.

Every Dollar Counts!

November 15th to December 13th

Our goal is to raise $6,000. 

That’s a lot, but together, we can meet this goal!

The Gillespie PTO is excited to announce the return of our Annual Gillespie Fussless Fundraiser. This is the primary PTO fundraiser of the year, and it’s a simple one. Simply donate dollars. Gillespie students don’t participate in any sales, and 100% of your donation is directly spent on Gillespie Middle School. When successful, this will be the main request for donations from PTO for the entire school year!

Gillespie’s needs change each year, but in general, PTO dollars support your child’s educational experiences through: 

• 6^th Grade Welcome Day • 7^th Grade Mad City Challenge • 8^th Grade Celebration • Forward Testing Breakfast

• Schools Dances • Cultural Events (Hispanic Heritage Event/Assembly, Black History Event/Assembly, etc.)

• Biweekly Popcorn Sale (encouraging positive behavior through Grizzly tickets) • School Spirit Events

• Staff Appreciation • Support Health Office Needs • Special initiatives, as they arise.

To meet our $6,000 goal, we are asking families to consider donating ANY AMOUNT that you can, as small or large as you feel fit.  We appreciate ALL donations to the Gillespie PTO!

Participation matters! 

Gillespie Middle School is a vibrant community of staff, students and families. Communities thrive when  everyone participates and supports one another. We hope that many families will participate in this effort to support our school community. 

Incentive for Success!  

The PTO anticipates a successful fundraiser. To celebrate, the PTO plans to have a special Celebration Day in the spring at school for the students of Gillespie with games, popcorn and fun! 

Your donation can be TAX DEDUCTIBLE!  Our legal name is still “Jefferson PTO Madison” and it is a nonprofit, tax exempt organization as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; EIN 88-4270149. Your donation may qualify as a charitable deduction for federal income tax purposes, as allowed by law.

Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year at Gillespie Middle School!

Welcome to the Gillespie Middle School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). The PTO gives parents, families, teachers and administration the opportunity to work together to supplement and enrich the educational experience of our students. Our mission is to help build a strong school community by supporting students, families and staff. Every parent, family member and staff member at Gillespie is part of our PTO – and your voice is important! 

Join us in any way that works for you! We will send emails from time to time to share information/reminders about upcoming events or activities, as well as asking for volunteers for some events. We do ONE (yes, you read that correctly, just one) Fundraiser per school year at Gillespie and it is a very simple concept. It’s called the “Gillespie Fussless Fundraiser” – this one and done fundraiser allows the PTO to raise the needed money to fund what we do for the school without any awkward sales or repeated asks for funds from our families.

Our PTO meets every other month on the third Wednesday of the month, with the exception of our first meeting, which will be on Wednesday, September 25th at 4:45pm. Want to share your ideas or get involved? Join us!
